  • Manning: Not Guilty

Of aiding the enemy. Still guilty of espionage. Your thoughts?

I really don't know what to think anymore. Hero or traitor? Government intrusion: okay or criminal? It has become a confusing world with many different shades of gray. I guess I am just getting old.
"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

I'll wait to hear the sentence. I'm glad he was innocent of the aiding charge so it takes the death penalty off the table.
He did violate his agreements so he does deserve some punishment regardless of the circumstances and his intent.
I do however hope they don't throw the book at him.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Fairly sure they'll throw the book at him, but who knows. I don't know myself; what he did was sort-of-right and sort-of-very-wrong. Do I want every single person taking their own judgement and deciding it's okay to release god-knows-what? I'm all for an open society but I don't know that as open as that will work without major sociological changes. But maybe it would?

              I'm with you. Freedom sucks!

I wish the government didn't tell me anything.

Manning wasn't a whistleblower, he was going **** you dad because he got art 15'd for flipping a table or something of that nature. He was a terrible soldier and he was in trouble with his command so he got upset and stole a bunch of data willy nilly. The whistleblower thing was a retroactive justification.

Yup, he should be shot, surely. Not because some foreign countries, terrorists and like learned something - no, he should be shot because ordinary american citicens never again can use the "plausible denial" argument when their government commits crimes in the future
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The dude was not a whisteblower, he was a man-child in an army uniform who endangered the lives of our operatives and screwed up a bunch of our covert operations. Take his head off.

I remember when Asher posted his armchair general thread of the apache helicopter video Manning leaked. Can't seem to find it. Whatever, it was classic.

Oh, gunning down civilians isn't a war crime - good to know
