Jaguars are British...who would buy a British car anyway?

Because a lot of them are cool. Growing up my father always had at least one old British sports car in the garage as his hobby car and usually they were in various states of disrepair. Still, when they actually worked the old MGs, Triumphs, and Sunbeams were fun little cars.

The quarks became something of a character building part of owning one which perversely made owners love them even more. Things like the points going out on the ignition system on a monthly basis, the fact that the British have never designed a convertible top which could keep the rain out, or how the headlights would mysteriously stop working for seemingly no reason at all.

Much of this was from the 50's though 70's and the main culprit was components made by The Lucas Electric Co which fans of British cares playfully nick-named "The Prince of Darkness" because none of their electrical parts ever seemed to work correctly. Eventually the free market did work and Lucas went bankrupt and not even multiple attempts at changing the brand name to hide from their past quality problems fooled anyone. Now days all the British cars use electrical parts designed in Japan or Germany.

The Mini seems to be the car of choice among girls in their mid 20's around here. It has European snob appeal but is cheap enough they can actually afford them plus it gets decent mileage.

I kind of want to get one of those hood ornaments on eBay and affix it to the hood of my Accord, just to confuse people.

They should do what Rolls Royce did with their "Flying Lady" hood ornament. It retracts at speed but goes up to show off when the car is going slow or parked.

The jaguar should remain in a lower, non-protruding position while the car is driving and should be erected when the car is parked.
