I'm sure I saw it back in the 80's but I remember nothing more than the basic plot.

          Like that did you?

As I said, we keep the good stuff. It's probably pretty tame for your tastes but if you're looking for something lighter their stuff is all good. Just don't tell anyone.

Canadian "non-exported for Americans" rock is a myth. The world is too small. We know all about your Blue Rodeo, your Stampeders, your April Wine.

Certainly Barenaked Ladies are talented and fun (with one of the best marquee names EVAH!) but they are only a secret because of their total failure to suck up to radio programmers. (Plus, their failure to have anyone physically attractive in the band...)

I've been to the Junos, I've been to Calgary Stampede. Nothing will convince me that there's any "secret sauce" that makes Canadian rockers any better. Hell, you've got Nickelback as a laughingstock (not to mention Geddy Lee's squealing vocals for Rush), and Alanis STILL can't define "ironic"...

Yes, but iirc you live close to the border and have some involvement with the industry. You are hardly typical.

I was near Detroit today. They can't run a city worth a damn but they do know how to rock.

Chicago is nowhere near a border. Yes, I have industry involvement. Typical or not, that's how I know these things.

Compared to Florida it is but yeah, I doubt you have radio spillover.

Do you mind if I ask what you do?

                    • These days, I'm a marketing consultant and PR writer (positioned as "content creation agency") for various manufacturers in the pro audio industry. Some advertising, website and social media management as well. Actually, one of my clients is a major Canadian pro audio distributor, SF Marketing in Montreal. Good people, fun to party with, and they are contracting me for several application stories over the next three months (including the Calgary Stampede).

Back in the day ('85-'05), I ran roughshod over the industry on behalf of Shure (microphones and wireless systems), handling artist relations (endorsements and such), Web presence, and PR. Good times.

                          • It happens when we're not paying attention.

It's that old joke "My dad told me never to get old.... I should have listened."

                            • I'm actually OK with the whole aging thing. Within reason.

My needs are simple. Just let me continue to earn some coin, play some golf, and fvck my wife.
                              Not necessarily in that order.
