Not likely. Today's conservatives would have been loyalists back then. That's what conservatism is. Ideology of the past... an idealized, fantasy version where everything was better back then. The love of regression. Opposition to positive change. Authoritarianism. The "freedom" for them to impose their will upon everyone. The belief that their right to extend their fist doesn't stop at your face. Opposition to planning... because planning might involve taking input from others.
