It was a teenager on older person crime. Teens are dicks to old people and vice versa.

I dont know if they used any hate crime prosecution because of Tuba Man's mental disabilities though.

I think that's hardly the case. The Zimmerman case was news because it combined several things together - a racial element, a child allegedly murdered, the prosecutors initially not pressing charges, and most importantly two issues that really divided people - the "defend myself" group who probably didn't find anything wrong with his actions, and the folks who saw his actions (deciding a black kid in his neighborhood was automatically a criminal) as offensive.

Lots of black on white cases make the national news. OJ, for example. Where were the white-on-black OJs?

I think the other factor is that theres the law in Florida that looks stupid and results in **** like this.

Even if his actions were legal, the legality enables worse decisions to be made.

If I got the correct news item, it was a black attacker and a white victim.

Maybe that's why it got no coverage.

Victim definitely white (there are photos), what I'm seeing strongly suggests teens were black.

Doubt it. Theres tons of black on white crime that happens on a daily basis that doesnt make the headlines. I think there is a 3rd factor, a "juiciness" factor that determines whether it leads.

One of the six teenage suspects charged with severely beating a man simply because they were bored and looking for something to do last summer has been arrested again.

Lamont Champion, 14, faces a felony robbery charge after he was identified by a victim in a photo lineup. He is accused of being one of two teens who attacked and robbed a 15-year-old of his cell phone and earphones as he walked home after school and soccer practice.

Champion is the second of the youths to be arrested again since all six were charged in August with felonious assault and aggravated rioting in connection with a vicious ...

true, but if it was white on black would it still not make the headlines?

                    This did make national news.

6 Ohio teens arrested for beating man unconscious
If neighbors hadn’t intervened the injuries to Pat Mahaney would have been much worse. ‘I find this whole thing appalling and despicable,’ says Police Chief Gary Foust.

Pat Mahaney was walking home Saturday with a six-pack of beer when he was viciously attacked by six teens because they were bored and "looking for something to do," a police report said.

Six teens were arrested Sunday after beating a man unconscious in a Cincinnati suburb - because they were bored and looking for something to do.

Pat Mahaney, 45, of North College Hill, landed in the hospital after a vicious attack that left him with a black eye and severe internal injuries. He was hurt so badly that his stomach filled with blood that required a tube down his throat to drain.

"I find this whole thing appalling and despicable," North College Hill Police Chief Gary Foust told the Daily News. Foust added that the 13- and 14-year-old boys were arrogant and that he believes the attack was pre-meditated.

Mahaney was returning home with a six-pack of beer when the juveniles walked by him on the sidewalk in the opposite direction, according to an incident report obtained by the Daily News. The boys then turned around and began to follow him. One punched Mahaney in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground.

The teens then took turns kicking and punching him in the head and face repeatedly, the report said. One of the delinquents took a beer can and threw it at Mahaney's head. The attack only came to an end when a neighbor, witnessing the attack, intervened and said he was calling the cops.

"This individual would have sustained, possibly, a higher degree of injury if not for individuals in the neighborhood," said Foust. They gave the adolescents' names to police and assisted the badly beaten Mahaney until help arrived.

The attack itself was discovered by police by accident. A nearby patrol car had been called to break up a fight between two dogs when Officer Aaron Kodish noticed a large group of people standing on the street. He pulled up and saw Mahaney "covered in blood and trying to maintain his balance," the report said.

It did not take long to find the suspects - five were arrested that night, the sixth the next day. They told authorities they only stopped beating Mahaney because neighbors intervened.

"Without their intervention," Foust said of the neighbors, "the degree of injuries could have been much more severe."

Mahaney, now released from the hospital, is currently home recovering from his injuries. He declined to comment on the incident when contacted by the Daily News.

Mahaney did speak to the Cincinnati Inquirer, saying he was surprised by the age of his attackers and that he "didn't think kids could do something like this."

Foust noted that Mahaney is unemployed and has no health insurance. The police chief said that "our hope in this is to work with the prosecutor to see that justice is done,” adding that meant jail time being served and the battered man's medical bills being paid through restitution.

If that were to happen, the boys' parents would be responsible for paying the medical bills.

All six of the boys were charged with two felonies each - aggravated riot and felonious assault. If they were adults, these charges would carry a sentence of anywhere from 10-25 years.

But as they are juveniles, Foust says, "that's not going to happen."

Due to laws prohibiting the identification of juvenile defendants, Foust declined to comment on whether any had prior criminal records.

probably. I mean, how many crimes happen in the south?

Any of you heard anything about this crime?

If this had been white on black, this would have been a bigger story than the Zimmerman trial.

                            Jul 02, 2013

Cobb County police have arrested four alleged gang members linked to a fatal hit-and-run crash on Mableton Parkway.

The suspects are accused of beating the victim and then forcing him into the path of a car.

The fatal crash happened just after 1 a.m. Sunday, near Factory Shoals Road and Mableton Parkway. Joshua Heath Chellew, 36, of Mableton was struck by a vehicle and later died.

Authorities said Chellew did not know his attackers. A friend of Chellew said that the two had gone to a gas station when several men jumped Chellew.

"They started punching him. They starting beating on him," said the woman, who asked not to be identified.

Arrest warrants said that the Chellew attempted to escape his attackers by backing into Mableton Parkway. Chellew was then knocked down onto the roadway, where he was struck by the vehicle.

The following four suspects are charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act. They are currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

                            - Jekari Strozier (19-year-old male from Mableton, Georgia)
                            - Antonio Pass (18-year-old male from Mableton, Georgia)
                            - Johnathan Anthony (18-year-old male from the Mableton, Georgia)
                            - Kemonta Bonds (18-year-old male from Mableton, Georgia)

Anthony made his first court appearance Tuesday night. The other three suspects are expected to face a judge on Wednesday.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Chellew turned himself into authorities. Police said that he does not face any criminal charges. Authorities said he did pull over and call 911 after he realized that he'd struck someone.

I see a double standard in the way the news media decides to show news when it is a black and white crime.
They are biased on the amount of coverage they give to the story depending on the color of the victim and the color of the attacker.
