Yes, there's definitely changes, and I'm still figuring them out.

As for me, well, life's been life. I drifted away from Civ after II, dabbled a bit in IV, and then tried that Civ game for the PS3. I didn't like that latter, and still consider II the best of the lot. But, I've heard some good things about V, particularly with the newest expansion, so once I save up some moolah, I'll check it out. After all, I love to play games ... but they have yet to come out with a good "new gen" version for the consoles, and I've got this new iMac ... so, yeah, things are starting to gel again when it comes to Civ gaming.

I might even have to read the manual for Civ V in order to re-familiarize myself with the series. Yeah, it's been that long. And I know V introduced *huge* changes to the series. Like no more stacking, among other things.

One of the better changes involves using your daily thanks to thank my post.

Well, that sounds "like" something Facebook does. LOL. I looked around a bit, but couldn't find a "thank you" button or option.

The fun part is that no one this site really places Civ anymore. I haven't even though about getting Civ V

I asked about that too and I forgot what the answer was. Let's pretend it's Wiglaf. More fun that way.

For some reason, I'm not surprised. LOL

After Civ II (and dabbling in Civ IV), I went into consoles — PS3, specifically, with a PS4 on pre-order — and became enamored with RPGs and FPS games ... still am, in fact. I'm an officer in a clan that's been around for years and plays multiple titles; they're good folk, too, with a rainbow of personalities that are eerily similar to many of my fellow Apolytoners. Lately, MMORPGs have taken a big chunk of my time — CCP Games, the makers of Dust 514 and EVE Online, specifically.

But, as I near age 40, I want to get back to the "roots" of my gaming experience — and Civ is one of those roots. So, here I am!

I'm pretty sure that Wiglaf is really just Sid Meier

I have thought this many times.

I bought Civ5 at launch and even dutifully kept buying DLC hoping that would encourage them to patch it up properly but when that didn't happen I more or less gave up on the game as flawed beyond redemption. Fast forward two expansion packs later and I finally got around to buying the expansions on steam for a discounted price and I've played two games this week. The game is no longer as shallow and superficial as it used to be but it remains a turd with its fundamental design flaws (like 1UPT, low production rates, inability to change governments, inability to really play a meaningful MP game at a decent speed, etc...) remaining unchanged. It's just a major step backwards compared to Civ4.

All they needed to do was update the graphics on Civ4 and maybe switch to a hex map but they just couldn't leave well enough along insisting of fixing things which weren't broken thus ending up with a worse game.
