A friend of mine on facebook was complaining about some story where two MS employees were playing Killer Instinct for an audience, showcasing Xbox one... one male, one female. During the event, the guy did really well one round. He made a reference to the "shhh let it happen" meme.

Apparently, laughing at this meme means you are responsible for every rape that has happened... ever.

I understand sexism in the workplace is an issue in the gaming industry. It's wrong and shouldn't happen. Women should get equal pay... obviously. This seems like a no brainer.

And yes, there's always controversy with rape jokes.

But today, she posts this meme:

And everyone is laughing their ass off... hahah it says "ho made" instead of "homemade" hahaha omfg so hilarious i **** my pants.

It seems to me that if enjoyment of the first equals tacit support for rape... then enjoyment for the second must equal support for racial stereotypes and sex trafficking.

    Am I wrong?

For the record, I'm not with the humor police.

Killer Instinct? Is the title a coincidence, or are they remaking the SNES fighter game with the really generic characters?

Yeah, I just dug up the Wiki after asking. I didn't know there was an N64 version, I thought it was just a crummy rush-job for the SNES. I remember there was a dude made of fire, and a dude made of ice, and some profoundly fugly graphics. But it says it was a bad arcade game port. Anyway, it's been ages and I only remember the thing from gaming mag ads.

Anyway, Re: OP, murder is worse than rape, right? So, how come we can have video games full of people--often, as in GTA, innocent people--getting gruesomely ripped to shreds, burned alive, blown up, etc., but if anybody produced a game where the player raped someone (even a really bad someone) there would be public outcry?

Also, I just saw an ad for another Wad of Gore game. I think it's the fifth or sixth one or something, I lost count. Hasn't Kratos run out of Greek deities and monsters to murder by now, and if so have they moved on to other cultures, e.g. Sumerian night-demons?

              No.

In fact, jokes about rape are worse than murder.

                    Hmm. I try not to.

Which camp is more popular on tumblr? The rape joke police? Or the anti-PC asswipe crowd?

Since this is a matter of defining what is humorous, the definitive answer is to wait for Mr. Fun to weigh in.
