  • HC was excited about getting his first car.

You are excited about getting this car.

Why do you bother yourself with what people think?

And falling back to "your jealous" is small. You don't need to do that.

(purposeful use of possessive because the jealously card is as stupid as not knowing proper grammar)

    • I was excited about getting a car that had working power windows. Also the first car that is actually "mine" rather than a shared household resource. It was a major step up. I was also excited that I got a whole lot more car for my money than I expected to. I'm not even slightly envious of your lexus. I my accord and your lame attempts to make me feel bad about it--starting with your very first post in this thread:

At any rate I agree with Sava. I'm glad you like your car. I wouldn't personally get one under almost any circumstances. But it's a good car for you if you like it. That's the only criteria. By the same criteria, my car is a good car for me and a bad car for you.

My comment was not to imply that it wasn't a good car. In fact it clearly says nothing of the sort.

The problem isn't with the fact that it's an Accord in general, it's that you were inexperienced enough to buy an old high-mileage rental car. You'll find out why it's a bad idea soon, if you haven't already.

Have you ever driven a rental car? Or seen how people drive them?

He clearly references his "previous car" in the OP, which would indicate it's not his first.

Someone who gets pumped up when he upgrades his old car to a car ten years newer then told someone else who was getting pumped up for doing the same thing as "caring too much".

He's either a complete idiot (I don't think he is) or he's being irrational. Why are people typically irrational, Sava?

          • Three out of five of my family members are currently driving ex-rent a cars. All have been absolutely great. Also much cheaper. I'm convinced at this point that former rentals are the way to go. They don't sell the cars that are beat to **** and they actually take really good care of them. You have a lot more assurances about their quality than any other place that sells used cars.

My car is in absolutely spectacular condition. When I got it there was basically no evidence that it wasn't brand-new, except for the number on the odometer and the fact that the model year said "2010".

I got a whole lot nicer car than I would have otherwise been able to get. I'm extremely pleased.

              • Also at inexperienced. My dad was the one who handled the purchase. I went around looking for cars with him. He's 55. Bought plenty of cars. Are you going to try to tell me he's inexperienced?

You're retarded. You're also an ******* with an inferiority complex. Literally everything to you is some sort of competition, from canada vs. usa all the way down to the computers people use and the cars they drive and the game consoles they play. It's pathetic. I'm really done discussing things with you. Welcome to ignore.

So it was your first car, with the caveat that daddy purchased it?

The words you're looking for are 'opinionated' and 'troll'.

Note that I had only nice things to say about your choice of car, but you came into the thread attaching my choice. Then you pull out this gem. You're really socially oblivious, do you know that?

                  My reaction post:

Whatever. As long as you like it.
                  Now read your post again.

                    • Buying any car... new or used... has risks. Rental cars go through routine maintenance and check ups. And I wouldn't call refer to a 2010 Accord with 42k mileage as "old" or "high mileage".

Also, I find any such criticism of buying a rental car to be a bit idiotic coming from someone who dropped $50k or so on a luxury car. HC will most likely get a better overall value from his purchase (cost per miles driven).

Again, none of this is a criticism of your car. My personal preferences aside, I'm glad you are happy (apparently) with your purchase. Personal satisfaction is what is important.

Car ownership is a crapshoot. There are no guarantees. You just need to do your homework and hope for the best.

Old as in "not new", and 42K miles in a couple years is high mileage.

Of course he'll get better overall value from his purchase. He'd get even more value out of his purchase if he bought a 1990 Corolla for $300. Is that the only metric one uses?
