I disagree with this... sort of. Aside from physical growth, what does "growing as a person" mean? Personal "growth" is a bull**** cliche. If you have rich parents, that's a resource. Utilizing every resource at your disposal is smart. He didn't choose to be born to his parents just as if someone without such advantages chose to be born to their parents. You don't get extra points for being good at bootstrap pulling.

The fact that the Kuci family lets their father do so much for them certainly explains their attitude and aptitude for life.
I will the silver spoon/rich kid bashing, however.

It's not an advantage when you let them do everything for you.

It's best to use the resources available to you on a consultation basis, but to let everyone else do things for you is folly. Ask your dad for advice, etc...but do it yourself.

        2. Humans shouldn't be allowed to drive cars. People can't drive. Every single person on the road poses an unacceptable risk to others. At this point, all transportation should be automated.

        3. If that feature saves you from murdering a family when you should have been watching the road, then it's a good thing.

        4. It doesn't make you not-a-douche for driving a BMW... ****ing Nazi car.

My dad had a stroke when I was 5 years old, so I really am not the best person to talk to with regards to male parental involvement.

That being said, independence is probably the most overrated quality in life... as well as misconceived. Aside from the most extreme outliers, everyone relies on other people for things in life... whether it be parents, friends, coworkers, members of a community, etc. Nobody lives on an island. People who think otherwise tend to be narcissistic assbags who are blind to (and ungrateful for) the support they receive.

Also, being rich is such a strong advantage, it doesn't matter if the money was self-made or inherited. I'm sure the Paris Hilton's of the world have such great regrets about not being more bootstrap pully.

I'm a little unclear where he gets the idea that I have a low aptitude at life. I'm kicking ass at life

My dad helped me figure out what I wanted to get. I paid attention to what he was doing so that I could do it when I am fully on my own. I'm not too proud to learn from people who know more than I do.

Strictly speaking, life is about surviving long enough to reproduce. Everything else is bull****.

You don't have children yet. Thus, you are failing at life.

Oh, I forgot... unless Asher impregnates a surrogate, he's also going to be a failure at life. Just like Abraham Lincoln ultimately was.

                  • My criteria for good life is to be satisfied with where you are and where you're headed. I'm very satisfied with where I am--successful at school, friends I can rely on, and family I have a close relationship with--as well as where I am headed: job security, living close to aforementioned friends and family, etc.

You are just taking up space and wasting the resources of future generations.

Well, I can agree with that. A college man would have done better with a Civic than an Accord just because a college man doesn't have a family and so doesn't need the space of a midsized car.

                        • You're forgetting that I need to move stuff to and from college. We looked at the Civic. Not enough trunk space. Just barely enough in the Accord.

Plus roomy is comfortable. And they didn't have as good deals on Civics.

                          • I thought you had friends and close family? No one has a bigger vehicle?

                            Ever heard of U-Hauls?

I moved across the ****ing country (twice) with nothing but a Mazda 3 (comparable to Civic).

I let my father negotiate most of my first car purchase. Well, first purchase from a dealer. I knew I didn't know what I was doing so I was very thankful to have my father's assistance as he had a great deal of experience purchasing cars from dealers. I even think I learned a great deal from it as I got to watch someone with more experience go about it.
