  • Rah's post is a ridiculous wishy washy "I HATE ALL PARTIES!" thing meant to give the appearance of being reasonable by equally criticizing all segments of the political spectrum while actually being completely bereft of thought or reasoning.

Wow. So you honestly believe that the 5th is a silent admission of guilt?

SCOTUS via wiki: "a witness may have a reasonable fear of prosecution and yet be innocent of any wrongdoing. The privilege serves to protect the innocent who otherwise might be ensnared by ambiguous circumstances." - Ohio v. Reiner

So, just the fear of incrimination (possible, perhaps not even likely) is enough. There is no need for it to "actually" incriminate the person. (Even if there were, it would be a ridiculous proposition to assume that every person who has ever considered pleading the 5th knew with absolute certainty whether their testimony would incriminate them or not. Even more ridiculous would be the assumption that the rest of us would know whether their testimony they never gave would actually incriminate them.)

Gee the WH was trying to figure out how to spin it and correct it. The only way I'd be really concerned is if they knew about it when it started because they ordered it. It wasn't such a long period that I consider it "cover up" length. I haven't heard any thing that leads me to believe cover up. It's not perfect but not the crime the rest of my party wants to make it out to be. It's minor at best. It's not like when slick willie stating he never had sex with the women in front of congress. (it really didn't bother me that much that he did, just that he lied about it. I mean hell, if the leader of the most powerful nation in the world can't get a little head, what's the point. And even then if Hilary was my wife, I'd probably lie about it too)

When they find something that points to the WH ordered it, then fine, get all excited. But until then let's leave the glee for going after the people the are responsible.

Of course, Oerdin doesn't know the difference between police questioning and testimony.
You, sir, are a moron. Truly.

Look it up. Just about everyone refuses to testify before Congress without a grant of immunity. It's S.O.P.

                            • I think people are just tired of all the partisan hype.

The fact that the real abuse of power - bugging the phones and comps of legit reporters, compromising freedom of the press - is the least discussed among the current crop of OMG OBAMAGHAZICARE hysterics is, IMHO, ample evidence of this.
