Two things:
1.) It was not a mistake Obama made...it was a calculated decision that he made to enhance his election chances. The redacted talking points of Friday evening along with the Saturday morning Oval office meeting tell that story quite clearly now that we know of them. Obama knew...and he instituted a cover up.
2.) The American people do not care when popular democratic Presidents lie (even if under oath, which Obama was not). This will cause a big stir with conservatives, but will not have an affect on Obama's term in office or the confidence he enjoys from his base.
