Yup. Action is great when it is set up by a story, dialogue, character development... you know... acting.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Good story, right. Stop kidding yourself, even the better ST of old tend to be full of gaping plot holes and implausible set-ups.

Sure. But it didn't try to mask it with gratuitous and pointless action PEWPEWPEPW

No they didn't. What are you talking about? There were references to previous shows all over the place, with the borg episode and the augments mini-arc and so on and so forth. And any place where they ****ed with the previous "canon" they made it better. Let's face it, star trek "canon" is ****ing incomprehensible.

Uh, did you even watch the TNG movies? I saw star trek nemesis when it came out. ****ing awful. I eventually watched all the other TNG movies. They all sucked.

My fav episodes of STTOS are the ones with tribbles, the rock eating creature and first contact with the Romulans.
STTNG is the one where Picard lives a whole lifetime through that space probe.
Yes, there may be plot holes but the story is good.

Agree. TNG movies sucking doesn't make the new ones not suck.

STWOKhan was heavy with action but had a damn good story and acting and not forget music.

These kids today are all ADD and need everything to pewpewpew. Mommy needs to give them their ritalin... or maybe take them off of it.

                          Maybe they are all autistics.

                            This is ****ing retarded...

In 2009, J.J. Abrams pulled off the nigh-impossible task of creating a "Star Trek" film that could not only bring in new audiences to Gene Roddenberry's incredible science fiction universe, but one that respected the more than four decades of continuity adored by die hard fans.
Yes, JJ Abrams certainly showed his respect for the Star Trek continuity by...

                            Spoiler:
changing the backstory of every character, having Uhura and Spock hook up, and blowing up ****ing Vulcan.

The whole point of Abrams first Star Trek was to reboot the existing continuity so he would be free to actually make fun movies.

                              Spoiler:
The Uhura and Spock thing is stupid, I can't defend that. Blowing up Vulcan was a bold move. It's not clear how much that's going to pay off for him.

I hope he blows up Earth in this one (or at least San Francisco).
