Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

Nope, no goal, good or bad. Only results of processes. Nothing on a macro level (not counting quantum, which is statistically driven) happens "at random" but happens in accord with the laws of physics.

And btw, if "everything happens for the good, as god intends" then explain how Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, bubonic plague, hurricanes, drought, famine etc. fit in with "happening for the good?"

            • I think Kid has adequately demonstrated that he is special.

You're contradicting yourself constantly. On the one hand you are the optimist, believing in the impossible, because it makes you feel better, and on the other hand you are the pessimist believing that everything that bad happens means that there is no god. In short, you are a progressive. To be a progressive is to be a walking contradiction. If there is no good in the world, what makes you think you can make any good. You can't. If there is no progress, there simply is no progress period. If there is no god, then you are not god. If there is no god then we will one day be destroyed (cease to exist), and there will never be any more life, not on other planets and not on this one. That's reality. Please try to grasp it, no matter how uncomfortable it is for you.

I don't have to fit things into my world view and call them good or bad. I do know this, everything that happened is the result of me and everything else that exists. Every experience is me, mine. I value it because it's real. I don't have to make up fantasies obout life on other planets.

I think we understand ourselves, and our value, by what we are not. We are not animals, and we are not gods. We are close to being gods, but we are not. Men are special creatures, as it says in the Bible.

Congratulations, you have now demonstrated funtional illiteracy as well as scientific illiteracy. Your rambling rant above is almost "timecube" caliber material. Keep it up, but don't forget to wear your helmet when you go out. We don't want you to have another boo-boo on your head. Lord knows you've had more than enough already.

Just the opposite. We take everything real for granted, and make up fantasies of what is unreal. So we actually don't know how significant we are. Either we are God's special creation. Or we are the only ****ing conscious beings that will ever exist, and one day we will go extinct, and the universe will go back to being a cold, lifeless place with no consciousness.
