You'd have a point about wildly disproportionate numbers of prisoners if you also had a significant disparity in conviction rates, but the fact is that overall, as a group, young black males commit a disproportionate amount of serious crime in most areas. White males dominate a few categories, such as serial and spree killing, but the proportion of serious violent crime commission != proportion in overall population.
