For some reason your helicopter hasn't been showing up. However, shoppers and workers from your city coming into mine are backing up the highway for miles, because the offramp only has one lane (and that's impossible to upgrade).

I'll check on it in a few hours. You know you can add more entry points to the highway right? In effect, you can add off ramps.

Specifically, he placed his water towers next to his sewage outflow pipes so his sims were basically drinking ****.

That issue was resolved by buying water from Sava and me sending him loads of ambulances. I am also providing about 1/3rd of his police force as crime is rampant. Criminals from Wiglaf's city are regularly crossing over into mine and murdering people.

Yikes. I'm doing well. Selling processors. Convention center is making me $70k per day. Tourism is great. Just built an airport. Got the trifecta with the train and ferry. Traffic is under control. I had to demolish some high tech industry because I didn't have enough workers. I'm over 20k people yet only 2k are workers. I still think the game is bugged with that. In the beginning, 2/3rds of my peeps were working.

I'm transitioning to high density. My main drag is full of hotels and a few commercial skyscrapers. My residential areas are split about 1/3 rich, 1/3 med and 1/3 broke asses. There aren't as many rich people per building, but they pay so much in taxes.

        I'll post some screens later.

        • I've built a processor factory which can't build any processors because the goddamn trade depot refuses to import alloy. So it just sits there consuming my budget. But I've transitioned to medium tech industry and I have way more jobs than people. People are flocking in from your town and from Wiglaf's to work in mine, causing huge traffic jams on the main avenue twice a day.

            • Alright, I'm going to deal with the fire helicopter, unemployment, education and budget issues right now, or run Baghdad into the ground trying. Wish me luck, mayors of Pripyat and VAG TOWN AMERICA.

                    • I wouldn't want to go walking alone in Baghdad (Wiglaf's city) without a concealed carry permit.

                      • It's a real ****hole. I think mine's the worst, Sava's is best and reg's is second. I like the ability to visit neighboring towns. Some shots of Sava's town (mine and reg's in the background) with the game's sin city filters:

                          • I think it gets a lot of points just for being different. Good citybuilders are rare (it says a lot that Guynemer's closest retarded comparison is Tropico) and the multiplayer functionality and Glassbox makes SC5 unique within the genre. Once the basics like pathfinding and server issues are cleared up, Glassbox will get some more scrutiny though, particularly for its handling of sims (which it treats an awful lot like other nonhuman agents, as far as I can tell). I'm still not totally clear why power and sewage are modeled as agents.

Surprisingly it was very easy to destroy the oil and transition to high-tech industry. I assume this is because of the university providing educated and well paid sims looking for work. If you aren't refining it, crude oil isn't substantially more lucrative than a ton of high-tech industry.

One single system is easier to program and test than two systems, even if it doesn't really make sense for some cases.
