As far as commies go, he seems to have been relatively harmless. We should applaud his efforts to co-opt socialism and turn it away from "self-inflicted genocide" towards more of a "oil revenue funded disco". Sure, he didn't get us all the way to that point ... such is the tragedy of his premature demise and limited oil extraction capabilities.

Chavez helped prop up the execrable regime in Havanna and was going down the same evil path himself, an amusing buffoon he may have been but at some point it looked like becoming no longer a joke for the people of Venezuela.

By the way Venezuela claims to the bikini babe capital of the world. That's gotta be worth saving

Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

Bush wasn't a dictator. He didn't make authoritarian power grabs, and he didn't have a history of attempting to overthrow the government.

Really only once as the first one was a political appointment by corrupt partisan judges.

All three of you are retarded.

                      1. The PATRIOT act isn't a dictatorial power grab
                      2. The Supreme Court didn't choose the President. The Supreme Court told Florida to stop ****ing with its vote count.
                      3. Oncle Boris believes all sorts of retarded **** like that Monsanto is taking over the world so his opinion is irrelevant.

Comparing Bush to Chavez betrays an enormous lack of perspective. Hugo Chavez actually tried to topple the elected government with military force in the 90s.

The dearth of legit choices is one of our greatest failings as a nation. That and failing to invent an anal bum cover.

You should probably go back and read the fine print.

                                So far, so good.

It was actually a pretty quiet coup by Latinamerican standards. Also unusual in that the intent was to move the country to the left, not the right. The "elected" government was crap and had the usual manipulations and distortions in the political and electoral systems, so no big loss to overthrow.
