Rape, by definition, is a criminal act. If the specific criminal elements do not apply, then it isn't rape. The poster in question, amont other things, is a native English speaker and a misogynist freak. He thinks, borrowing a phrase from one of his failed right wing political heroes, that "legitimate rape" is a distinction, i.e. actual rape, not just the lying female claiming it was rape.

It's not a distinction, it's a contradiction. With those ignoramuses (not counting non-native speakers) who think it's a distinction, it's patently offensive. You don't hear the phrases "legitimate burglary", "legitimate armed robbery", "legitimate arson" "legitimate child molestation" etc. Rape is the only crime where the routine defense is that the victim either consented, or somehow "asked for it" or is making the whole thing up. Rape is also the only crime where as often as not, the victim is put on trial as much or more than the defendant. That is also why it's the least reported major crime by percentage, so I have less than zero tolerance for anyone who plays word games to trivialize rape.


I wouldn't expect a non-native speaker to understand the nuance of the word legitimate, especially if they've seen it misused. I have no patience for self-claimed "I have a degree, look at me" college educated native speakers sodomizing the English language without its consent.
