So THIS is the plan to put people back to work...wondering when we were going to get one.

I suppose that is the best spin for it.

If you want to lower costs, you have to kill the insurance companies... or at least emasculate them.

Single payer is the cheapest and most efficient way to go.

All large organizations, public and private, are inherently inefficient. That's the reality of the situation. Only through active participation in a democratic system with checks and balances can optimal results be achieved. That's why we don't have kings.

Hierarchical corporate structures are kingdoms. When you get down to the nuts and bolts of the ideology, free market types believe they have a divine right to such power. Opposition to the estate tax is rooted in monarchism. Transfer the wealth and power to the next generation.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Yep, get rid of the useless middlemen and then things become more efficient and cheaper.

Obama Prepares To Screw His Base

Young people reelected the president. Now they get to pay disproportionately for ObamaCare.

President Obama's enemies often accuse him, in the starkest political terms, of crudely acting to shift resources toward his political base: green-energy donors, single women, Latinos, African-Americans.

But the next 12 months are likely to reveal the opposite. Imminent elements of Obama's grandest policy move, the health-care overhaul known as ObamaCare, are calculated to screw his most passionate supporters and to transfer wealth to his worst enemies.

The passionate supporters are the youth, who voted for him by a margin of 60% to 36%, according to exit poll samples of people 29 and under. His enemies are the elderly: Mitt Romney won 56% of the votes from people 65 and over. And while one of ObamaCare's earliest provisions was a boon to the young, allowing them to stay on their parents' insurance through the age of 26, what follows may come as an unpleasant surprise to many of the president's supporters. The provisions required to make any kind of health insurance plan work — not just ObamaCare, but really any plan of its sort — require healthy young people to pay more in health insurance than they consume in services, while the elderly (saved by Sarah "Death Panels" Palin from any serious attempt to ration expensive and often futile end-of-life care) consume far more than they pay in.
Young people reelected the president. Now they get to pay disproportionately for ObamaCare.

State of the Union: Will Obama Tell Young People He's Screwing Them Big Time?

Probably not, but they should listen up anyway.

if the proprietor of the most open and transparent and clean-smelling administration of all time wants to make some real news, he might speak honestly to the segment of the American electorate that he is screwing over six ways to Sunday: Young voters between the ages of 18 and 29. Listen up, kids! Your parents are robbing your futures blind and you're chumps enough not only to go along but to say - like the adorable title orphan in the classic baby boomer musical Oliver! - please, sir, I want some more.

From virtually every possible angle, Obama is helping to diminish the prospects for today's younger generation. First and foremost, his response to the Great Recession - stimulus and the massive piling up of debt - is slowing the recovery. Ginormous regulatory schemes such as Dodd-Frank and the creation of huge new soul-and-bucks-sucking programs such as Obamacare weigh heavily on the economy now and in the future too. His refusal to discuss seriously old-age entitlement reform - Medicare and Social Security and the 40 percent of Medicaid that goes to old folks - is a massive storm front on the economic horizon. His preference for secrecy and overreach when it comes to executive power won't screw young people as obviously as his economic policies, but when he leaves office in 2017, he will have created far more terrorists than he needed to.

Exactly. You think I complain solely for me? **** no. The dismay comes from people who treat him like a rock star while he bends them over. I'm coming up on 58 years old.
I won't have to deal with it nearly as long as the fools that kept putting him in office. None of which he has to deal with himself. He mortgaged your future and your children's future. Enjoy.

Drake posting garbage from "Reason" magazine which is a Koch brother's astroturf group. The reality is universal care LOWERS per person prices for the same reason that having more healthy people in the insurance pool lowers per person prices. Yes, sick people consume more than healthy people but the more people in the pool the lower the person costs. ObamaCare adds a metric **** ton of new people into the insurance pool.

Of course, if we really want to lower costs then we need to ditch the parasitic middlemen and move to an NHS style system. That's where you get the real economies of scale which drive down prices.

Reason magazine thinks Obama is ****ing everyone over by not being a libertarian so I'm not really surprised that they think he's screwing over the young by not being a libertarian.

Anything with "Reason" in it's name or title pretty much guarantees it's the opposite. It's the same mindset that brought us Pravda ("Truth") or the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which like MRE is three lies for the price of one.
