Which as you said is more than average. I'd wager average is 5-6. Last time I got stitches, I believe it was 5. It was completed in an ordinary doctor's office, not a hospital, and it was inexpensive.

Google it. Average is around $1000+ for stitches. There were some studies done in Washington state, which is where my # came from (I saw it earlier today googling, don't have link right now)

I googled it and found many examples of people saying it costs $1600 for 5 stitches, etc.

Depends what you call a lot of money. A couple of weeks in Thailand costs about 1-2k$ all incl. That's from Denmark, of course.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Airfare alone from here is a hell of a lot more than that.

Anyway, however much it costs here, I'm glad I don't have to wait in ****ing line.

From what I gather he's from Australia but lives in some small Pacific nation, I guess with the Australian diplomatic service?

                  good guess lol

Thanks to those who expressed sympathy, slept okay but it was a bit uncomfortable cos I slept on a towel, still got blood traces in my hair

I felt straight away this doctor was good. I think he did a lot of stitches to prevent scarring.

I went to a teaching hospital, Saint Louis. I can recommend it.

cost $150 for 8 stitches here, but thats with Blue Cross - they negotiate the cost down so customers actually pay less than people with cash
probably be around $250-300 maybe w/o insurance, and no wait either. Go in bleeding and they'll deal with you asap, but that aint emergency, just local med assist

if they aint open and you need emergency care, gl on what they charge

and gl Horse, was there a window behind that grill?

Clearly, you've never been to a doctor's office in the US.

this thread wasn't yet another troll against the US health system, the US does ER particularly well too, main problem is over-servicing, I suspect because of the threat of litigation maybe..

the Korean and Japanese are like the US, you come out with a lot of tests and drugs you probably don't need, but had just in case. I used to throw about two thirds of the drugs away off the bat, lol.

here they gave me tylenol, antibios, which I'm taking but they also gave me muscle relaxants which I'm not taking until I know why I have them

It's usually because of fee-for-service payments. Malpractice isn't as strong of an incentive to over-treat.

China's system is truly messed-up, actually. Healthcare workers are routinely assaulted or given death threats because they have no trust. A big component of the problem is the limited amount of funds that the government gives to healthcare.

just had the wound dressed, again straight in, took ten minutes, cost 116 baht, or about 4 dollars lol. Wound looks good apparently, about 3 inches long, left forehead into the scalp.

It could make me even more ruggedly handsome than I am now, if that if possible...

The other reason I'm taking the muscle relaxant is Mrs Horse is looking pretty good today...
