How I almost got a daughter
Saw the inlaws today. My wife's sister brought one of her sons and her brother's 3 daughters down to Bangkok.
Families in Thailand are complicated. Turns out my wife's brother didn't want his daughters at different times when they were little and my wife nearly brought the oldest home when she was was small. My wife helped raise her as a baby. She is now 26. The same with his younger daughters, who have a different mother, now 16 and 11.
Contrary to popular impressions about Thailand, the girls needed a chaperone to see us in Bangkok. They aren't allowed to go to Bangkok without a relative to look after them. It's a very different world upcountry. Adoption within families are common and not difficult. Children get raised by different people, whoever takes an interest or has the means.
