    We probably still do.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Yes. Do you have any other stupid questions? Can you wrap your head around the concept that civilian gun ownership and mountains weren't necessarily significant factors in the decision by the Nazis to not invade?

Told him what about it? Be more specific please.

They told him everything kentonio. Before one nation envades another nation, or even decides not to, there is quite a bit of discussion.

You're trying to support an argument based on this, please supply some actual evidence to support what you are claiming. If you believe that the German generals advised Hitler not to invade because of the number of private guns, then I'm very interested to see your supporting material.

They would have talked about the Swiss fighting a querrilla war in the mountains, and yes that many people owned guns. Why? Because that would make holding the territory all that much harder. I'm assuming that there was serious consideration of invading. I don't feel the need to back that up, so you will have to hold on to your opinion.

You don't feel the need to back up your assertions? Shouldn't be surprised I suppose.

You are right that there was serious consideration of invading however, although this plan wasn't abandoned until '44 when the war was clearly lost.

                      They decided not to.

                        They did indeed.

*Incidentally I found a CFC thread from 2003 the other day where you and I were debating WW2. Happy 10th anniversary.

Switzerland was hardly as big as Poland, had a smaller population, had a significant German-speaking area which was pro-Nazi in many respects, and was also home to the bank accounts of many Nazis and also a repository for stolen Nazi loot (art treasures, gold, jewellery) from across Europe. All many reasons why the Nazi regime would not have wanted to invade.

Note they didn't invade Sweden either, which also supplied them with essential iron ore.
