Republicans of the past realized that perception is important in politics (which is why it was so easy to portray the Dems as being loonies). You give a little there, even though it won't do all that much, and push for what you really want. Therefore it looks like you gave a lot and if you get rebuffed - well that's on the other guy.

Crybaby is doing what you suggest to no avail at this very moment.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Not sure how closing loopholes equates to raising the top tax rate on a PR scale.

800 billion in new tax payments from "the rich" vs a proposal the Senate wouldn't allow to get on the floor.

At this point I think the GOP should give the American people exactly what they voted for and give the President everything he asked for bar the demand to be allowed to violate the constitution.

It's funny. The GOP, that represents the interests of the elite and the wealthy, refuse to listen to the advice of the very group they represent, in this instance.

                  1. health care for the poor and disadvantaged
                  2. recognizing citizenship of Americans regardless of sexual orienation
                  3. compelling the wealthy to finally live up to their professed patriotism, and contribute more to the greater good
                  4. improvement on our decaying national transportation and energy infrastructure
                  5. diversifying our energy resources to include substantially more renewable energy versus fossil fuels
                  6. safeguarding Social Security and Medicare
                  7. protecting women's right to make their own healthcare decisions
                  8. preserving and improving our public education system

I don't see any problem getting any/all of the above that Obama's supporters voted for.

You should probably read the White House response to that study explaining why it's bull****.

Given the economic record of the Admin thus far, why should I give credence to their defense of that economic proposal?

Actually, the unemployment has now dropped to its lowest since December 2008. You're welcome.

And by the way, haven't opponents against increasing taxes for the wealthy made this same "sky-will-fall" argument every time taxes would go up, but the fiasco they envisioned never really materialized anyway?

The unemployment rate did decline in November, but for the “wrong” reasons as US households reported job losses and the labor force shrank. (again. /me) We think it’s important to note, however, that the household survey was conducted one week earlier than usual (as is typical every November) so households were asked about labor market conditions in the week immediately following Hurricane Sandy. This means household employment is likely to snap back in December.

You Republicans are so cute. 'Yes unemployment fell, but it fell for the wrong reasons and it'll never last and Obama is a BAD MAN!!'
