Game's pretty good. Favorite moment so far is managing to get a few bears to attack an enemy outpost when I ran out of ammunition. I felt like a straight MacGyver.

I get that this is standard RPG type crafting but why the **** do I need to use shark skin to make the fourth holster or fourth wallet? I mean, it doesn't even seem like it would be a suitable material.

Anyway the key to looting sharks is to sit on the shore near where they spawn and kill them in shallow water with a shotgun so their friends can't gnaw your ass off while you cut them up underwater.

Getting it for the xbox. I can't do FPS's on the PC. Rather pay the extra 10 bucks for better control.


On the flip side, I can't stand strategy games on the xbox. Tiberium Wars was so ungainly for me that I couldn't manage to beat my friends who never played PC RTS's.

Aside from the graphics, the reason to buy this on PC is the mod that eliminates the horrible UI.

Better control? Well, maybe running around is better with a stick, but mouse is better for shooting.

Seen it @ Friends place tonight. Wonder why this gets compared to Skyrim instead of the more appropriate Just Cause2? The Map Control with capturable (?) bases is quite similiar. The Option to buy Maps for the Secrets ingame makes me wonder why this wasn't implemented before, great Solution.

Annoyingly my Friend just did a Story Mission before I arrived, which lead to the Character wanting to call Dennis.. Unfortunatly this Sequence repeated everytime we finished anything else: Finished a Hunting Trip? Better call Dennis! Outpost cleaned? Call Dennis! Picked up some Herbs? You know who you should really call?

Also the Loading Screens are full of sublimal messages: It told us to Kill Father-Lick Mom- F*ck Girlfriend
WTF??

So how serious is the Story? Seems like the Protagonist is having the Time of his life killing and looting across the Island?

Late to the Party

I, sadly, never heard about Far Cry until 3 wuZ out. I, however, played another FPS sandbox game cKalled Boiling Point:Road to Hell (or Xenus.) Far Cry 2 looKed remarKably similar to Xenus so it iZ within my realm of appreciation (FPS sandbox.) Also Far Cry 1 predates the release of Xenus so Far Cry iZ the OG of the genre. From reviewZ the story of Far Cry 2 seemed interesting to me, and it is discKounted in price right now so I went ahead and bagged it. Maybe I will like the series enough after playing 2 that when Far Cry 3 goeZ on sale I will bag it too.

Xenus wuZ Euro-Russian made and produced and not available on the Xbox, and Xenus 2 was not even released in the US. I was VERY disappointed that the only FPS sandbox-shooter that i heard about wuZ basicKally dead, then WHAMMO, "Hello AAHZ my name is Far Cry!" my hope has again risen. AmaZing I managed to miss out on the whole serieZ until now. Feel Kinda silly but at least I get to enjoy it for the first time.

And no I don't cKare that I bought Far Cry 2 before 3 and both gameZ have different storieZ. It iZ the genre moar that anything that I am interested in, and last game I bought for $60 new ended up on the shelf cKollecKting dust weeks later (XCOM.)

EDIT: Yes I played and liked Fallout 3 but that is moar steampunk rather than realisticK, that wuZ my point.

3 hours in and WOW THIS GAME SUCKS. I am glad I did not spend all that money on 3. I would rather reinstall and play Boiling Point again rather than play the POS that is the Far Cry series. Oh well no real dent in my pocKetbook.

You know there iZ a long list of games that are the "Worst of all time" for me, and I say this with all seriousness, but Far Cry 2 has to be the worst game I've played in my entire life.

It was seriously that broKe, unbalanced, and unfun. This is the last I will speaK of that abomination. Holy cKow.

I could have told you Far Cry 2 sucks. There's some really cool things about it like the way fire spreads, weather effects, weather effects that actually matter, guns jamming, the cool animation when you heal yourself, the malaria situation, etc. but the game was broken with the respawning enemy camps, the illusion of an open world when it was nothing but valleys, the repetitive missions, and the long travel distance between mission points made worse by the enemy camps.

It was a game with potential that was flawed.

That's why I can't believe regexcellent actually finished the entire game. I got to the second map and quit.
