Everyone of us alive was not aborted.

I would be upset if I was aborted, if I were capable of being upset.

I'd also be upset if I was never fertilized, which is why I'm all for criminalizing masturbation and contraception.
If you can't have an intelligent and honest discussion about abortion at least do everyone the favor of not threadjacking to it all the time.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

      • So what can the Republican Party do to win more elections. Some say get more rightward, some say tone down the immigration. Is that it? Really?

            Immigration. Really. That's it.

I don't think you understand your argument. Or maybe you do, which is why you refuse to clarify what your argument is.

What does having a Chinese friend have to do with abortion rights?

Is your point that with easy access to abortion you wouldn't have made this splendid friend?

That's the only real argument I can see out of it. One that I countered in kind with another absurd argument.

I think mostly the reason the Republican party lost is because facing an incumbent is never easy, Obama is a particularly good campaigner (if not actual leader), and as a "historic" candidate it presents problems in terms of that naturally motivating the democratic base more. Note the 2010 midterm elections. The Republicans are not facing future problems demographically in midterm elections at all.

If you actually look at the issue hispanic voters said was most important to them, it was the economy. Romney did well among people who said that the economy was the most important issue. Clearly the hispanic population is at odds with the greater population on what economic policies are best. This will probably change, as it has with every immigrant group in the past, as that population becomes older and more settled.

Democrats used to always win the Irish vote. Probably for the same reason they're now winning the Hispanic vote.

Or was this just a misguided attempt at playing the token-Chinese-friend card in the wrong thread?

                    • The democrats have a strong anti-immigrant faction as well: unions. Ultimately I don't think adopting immigration reform is going to make white southern suburban churchgoing married people vote for the Democrats.

Some would argue that the 2010 midterms sent the wrong message to Republicans - that they were overly confident that house districts are a truer reflection of the overall senate and presidential race.

Unions are pro immigration if they can unionize them. That's the rub.

If this is a serious question, it depends on how it is handled. Paired with a credible border security package, you could likely get somesort of amnesty deal done.

                            • The senate races have been hampered by poor management from above more than anything else. In this last election, the main flaw for the Republicans was terrible recruiting of candidates.

The main issue with the 2010 elections in particular is that Republicans did not fully grasp how vastly different the electorate would be with Obama at the top of the ballot. I think in the future Republicans will have a strong advantage in midterm elections, but a disadvantage on presidential ones.
