Well, that might be a problem because if you put it on a Sunday, a lot of Christians would feel like they were unable to vote, and on a Saturday, orthodox Jews wouldn't be able to vote. Early voting might be the solution there though.Comment

We've only amended it fewer than 30 times. Most state constitutions have been amended hundreds of times. Amending it wouldn't be that hard in this case, I think. I'm just pondering whether it's a good idea, given the sabbath for Jews and Christians.Comment

Not necessarily. The Constitution just says Congress gets to decide an election day - with the rise of early voting, we can have a final day for choosing the Electors (which is what Article 2, Clause 4 actually says), but have voting open all weekend (The Electors just won't be chosen until the specified day). Wasn't the tuesday thing only some throwback to harvests and markets or something anyway? Seems a bit daft to retain it if its now an impediment to people getting to the polls.Comment
