The district itself is majority-black however.

What's great is that you're gnashing your teeth at the prospect of one district that was created to ameliorate the serious racial problems Virginia has had in the past.

Every other District in VA is at the very least a white-plurality district.
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

"In the past" being the operative phrase here. This isn't the 1960s anymore, Lonestar. We've elected a black Governor and a black President. Considering Virginia is a white-majority state, it shouldn't be upsetting if all the districts are also white-majority.

I know that you're a Young'un, but all throughout the 90s the State Government of VA declared "Confederate History" Month, MLK Day is "Lee Jackson King Day"(although that has since moved), etc. The Virginia government, recently, has taken adversarial stances against blacks and minorities.

The 3rd District was re-drawn to it's current boundaries in 93, the very next year Virginia declared "Confederate History Month". It's very obvious that many Virginians would turn back the clock if the law allowed it.

Hell, a Jackass that threw a racial slur against (dot) Indians nearly won in the 2006 Senate Race, and he's doing a not too shabby job running in the 2012 Senate race. Yes, the Virginian voting population really takes care not to take racist stances.

We still announce confederate history month....who cares? Is that inherently racist? And no one is even sure what "macaca" actually means. Does it count as racist if it's actually just gibberish? Furthermore, I have no idea what you are talking about with respect to "adversarial stances against blacks and minorities". McDonnell's administration has been quite good.

PS: I voted for Allen. Kaine

Boy, it is definitely racist. The n-word once meant "black", but this one means "monkey".

Ha, seriously? The Confederacy was established on the "truth" that the negro is inferior to the white man.

A lot of people know that "macaca" was a racial slur used against Indians by the French, and by what is surely an amazing coincidence Allens mother is a French Jew.

You don't think declaring "Confederate History Month" and maintaining "Lee Jackson Day" is an adversarial stance against minorities?

"Whoa fellas, all I'm saying is we ought to have a month that's a tribute to a regime built on white supremacy and a day supporting the greatest defenders of the regime. Totally not racist here."

That's one of those facts that Republicans like to deny.

Is "asanity" a lack of sanity, like "amorality" is a lack of morals?

Why exactly did you feel the need to point out that Allen's mother is a Jew? Seems irrelevant to the point you were ostensibly making.

Because Allen likes to say "my mother is Jewish" whenever he is hustling for money at pro-Israeli PACs. He obviously strongly identifies with that more then the "French" part, even if the French part is where the "macaca" comment came from.

EDIT: His Mother is a French North African Jew, how's that for being specific?

Actually, Allen tried to hide the fact that his mother was Jewish. His mother taught him to hide it because she was afraid of discrimination. He doesn't identify as Jewish.

No, I don't. I think it's a non-issue that pleases some idiots on the right and angers some idiots on the left who literally get paid to be upset at things that could theoretically qualify as offensive.

McDonnell has never done anything to "turn back the clock", as you say, on civil rights.
