What's great is that in Virginia I need to show two proofs of citizenship for assault weapons(passport, voter iD card, etc), but just two proofs of residence for this.

If it had had a bayonet lug it would have been a ASSAULT WEAPON OF DEATH.

Considering my two forms of proof of residence would be my driver's license and passport anyway, this doesn't really bother me at all.

My passport is in my car and I'm too lazy to go out and check. I think you have to have your street address on at least two forms of ID...hence when I bought my AR-15 I used my voter registration card; Passport; Drivers license.

US passports only have your place of birth and nationality if they're anything like mine.

I haven't handled AKs since my deployment(and didn't shoot them, just threw them in the pile) so it was a bit of a change picking it up when I'm so used to my AR-15.

Do you think that McAuliffe will win? Even if he does, he can't do **** to VA gun control. Republicans have the house of delegates for the next 10 years.

Yup, I do think he will, although it'll be closer than what the polls show(since only the True Believers come out for off-year elections). And current gun laws last only as long as something suitably horrible for a knee-jerk reaction to occur.

I did get a new rifle earlier this year, a Savage 11 in .243 winchester. It's got a cheap scope on it that it came with from the factory but it's still surprisingly accurate and the thing holds zero.

I don't understand shooting. I'm not familiar enough with the per round costs. A quick google shows .556 to be 30ish cents per round. So, say you fill up a 30 round clip and go to the range. That's $9 you just flushed down the toilet. Why not just go to the bank, get lots of quarters, and throw them off a bridge? It's the same ****ing thing.
