Seriously though it seems that it was a tie. Romney missed a few opportunities and Obama actually looked like he was awake this time. I'm skeptical that anything short of a knockout punch reverses the polling trend thus far.

The Libya exchange made the mod look stupid.

Polls seem to be trending to Obama as a mild favorite to win the debate, but none beat the 50% margin and I think it's fair to call it a tie.

Slate's partisan tweets thing is really fun. I saw one tweet on the "left wing" column saying "poll shows Hispanics in CO think Obama won by [some large point difference]" and one on the right wing side saying "poll shows debate watchers thought Romney did better on the economy by [some large point difference]." If selecting tangentially related polls conducted in a matter of minutes or hours over a fairly small sample isn't cherry-picking, what is? It's kind of ridiculous really.

I think a tie would be if some polls favored Obama, and some favored Romney. It looks like a slight win for Obama.

Last I checked, Ohio was leaning toward Obama in the polls?

              Another blatant lie from Romney?

Obama pointed to Romney's support for the controversial Blunt amendment, which would allow employers to refuse to offer women insurance plans that cover contraception for moral reasons. He also criticized Romney's plan to cut funding for Planned Parenthood.

"That's a pocketbook issue for women and families all across the country, and it makes a difference in terms of how well and effectively women are able to work," Obama said. "When we talk about child care and the credits that we're providing, that makes a difference in terms of whether they can go out there and earn a living for their family. These are not just women's issues -- these are family issues. These are economic issues."

Romney, clearly on the defensive, then charged that Obama had mischaracterized his support for the Blunt amendment.

"I just know that I don't think bureaucrats in Washington should tell someone whether they can use contraceptives or not, and I don't believe employers should tell someone whether they have contraceptive care or not," Romney said. "Every woman in America should have access to contraceptives and the president's statement on my policy is completely and totally wrong."
Isn't that the exact opposite of what he's been saying for the last six months?

"I just know that I don't think bureaucrats in Washington should tell someone whether they can use contraceptives or not, and I don't believe employers should tell someone whether they have contraceptive care or not," Romney said. "Every woman in America should have access to contraceptives and the president's statement on my policy is completely and totally wrong."

No. His position is that state-subsidised contraception is unnecessary. No more, no less.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

Coverage I have read have said it made Romney look stupid and unsure.

I have not seen it aside from clips.

The consensus from the market is Obama won.

                        Which fact?

Is this the bit on "WHY DID YOU NOT CALL IT TERRORISM RIGHT AFTER IT HAPPENED?"

If so I still scratch my head on that. Why is anyone even talking about that?

He refused to admit it was a terrorist attack for two weeks because it doesn't dovetail well with his "I killed bin Laden" narrative.

The administration's response to the Libya thing was ridiculous. The maker of some stupid video is in jail, ostensibly for parole violation or something, but really because he was fingered by the administration for being responsible. Something that the Libyan government was saying was completely false from day 1, and something the CIA knew from day 1 also.

Sorry, please answer a more relevant question.

Why does it matter what he describes the attack as? What changes? Why is this an issue in a presidential debate in a country with so many ****ing real issues it's depressing?

It also seems to me he did call it an "act of terror" the day after.

"No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn for more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done. But we also know that the lives these Americans led stand in stark contrast to those of their attackers."

Long story short -- WTF America?

Explicitly links it to 9-11, and says

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.

I'm a bit confused here by the insistence of some that Romney is not a pantaloon-en-fuego liar.
