Yes. SA bonus is very good, but becomes less good the longer you go into the game without getting it. If you do not have any pressing major panic problems to deal with, covering Brazil & Argentina ASAP is a pretty good plan.

However, starting in SA is not a smart play, because it only takes two satellites to get the bonus.

Mobile infantry units have very good aim, better in overwatch. I only built one when I got the plasma gun. Now if I could only get one with auto grenade launcher.

THIS IS WHY YOU FAIL.

Your base should be in North America (only for the USA cash, no other reason) or Africa (best bonus) or Asia (good bonus, you don't have to cover four countries to get it). NEVER EUROPE.

You should always put a satellite up over USA before the end of the month no matter what you do.

Getting South America early is good. The more continents you cover, the fewer abduction missions show up. If you cover 3 continents, you only get two at a time. On Normal and below that's a sustainable rate of panic increase, and it's possible to whittle down to 0 panic everywhere at that point. On Classic you can break even with it.

Everything was going well until the first terror mission. I sent 5 but because of losses, I had 1 assault, 2 snipers, and 2 rookies. We rescued 7 civilians until the Chrysallids came and then it was over. The entire team was wiped out and Australia withdrew. This was with carapace armor and some of them having nano-armor as well. The zombies and chrysallids are so destructive.

I have two soldiers left and one is wounded. ****.

I can't send a lone rookie on an abduction mission...

You need to basically rush in and take out the chrysallids before they can turn all the civilians. It requires a very different approach to normal missions. If you sit back, the chances are that you'll get the endless chrysallid/zombie swarm every time, and then you'll be lucky to survive. Kill the chrysallids early and the mission becomes pretty easy.

My advice would be to do what I'm doing, which is screw the ironman, and just save before each mission. If you completely **** up the mission, load.

That is a very different level of "save cheating" than saving and reloading to order low shots with high RNG values and high shots with low RNG values to artificially increase accuracy (something I did on my previous game but am not doing this time).

Ironman

I've noticed some bugs lately... Steam says I've played for 7580 hours (not likely, more like 7580 miinutes perhaps). Also, when I have an assault with a shotgun active, ALL of my guys show up initially as 1% to target (or something small like that) in the HUD targetting; only when I actually go into fire mode does it display correctly. They must have some after-the-fact correction to the HUD target % that's gone rogue. When the assault is disabled (or even Panicked, I believe) the issue goes away - but if the assault comes back, it comes back.

Finally got plasma weapons (Light Plasma Rifle, anyway) for the first time. Sweet Only have three surviving ranked guys (my Lt. Dan got whacked two missions ago due to being in partial cover when some of the melee guys popped out along with some disks... ouch)
