Aaand, this is going to **** quickly. My next month (June?) I had _nothing_ happen for 20 days. I got the satellites built, figuring I'd get a mission at some point to pay for the uplink to be built. Nope. So at 20 days I sell off elerium and alloys, as that's what I'm down to, in order to build an uplink... which takes 14 days. Meanwhile, with NO bad things happening whatsoever, US and Mexico decide to go to max panic, so I'll lose them no matter what I do at this point.

Sigh.

How are you in the postion to have to choose between two countries to lose in the first month?

France, Russia, and Egypt started at 3 bars filled in my game.

I've been flawless so far but I am about to lose either France or Russia, with China at 4 bars. I can only send one satellite as it's the first month.

I don't remember which ones I did but none were offered in those 3 countries. I did whichever one offered engineers and the second abduction, I don't remember.

Put satellite in Russia and lost France.

First month: B
Council missions completed: 1, Abductions stopped: 2, UFO's shot down: 1, UFO's raided: 1

Only 1 casualty; a one-shotted rookie

Got 4 bars in China and 3 in Germany, Russia, and UK

This playthrough is going very well despite the loss of France. Only one casualty. I have my first pieces of carapace armor and a 5 man fireteam, including two Lieutenants. I've killed the Outsiders in my two UFO raids with assaults on run & guns, so I have 2 flight computers and a power source (no explosions in the UFO's).

Play on Classic.

France, Russia, and Egypt started with 3 bars. A panic attack and France/Russia went to 5 bars.

I was hoping my first council mission would be in France to try to alleviate that but it wasn't.



Also, I noticed the probabilities on an assault normal attack do not coincide with the double tap attack. 79% chance to hit normal, 62% chance to hit per double tap; it's 86% between the two double tap shots, right?

Yikes. One of my Lt's, my only heavy, was one-shotted by a Thin Man through full cover. WTF?

Two more guys got wounded. ****. Need to bounce back.

I need a heavy bad, though, with what I know is coming up. I've noticed through all my playthroughs I only ever have one heavy at a time. Anyone know if they have different dice rolls?

When you do an abduction mission, the other areas get panicked.

You must be chosing the wrong continents to reduce panic in, I can't think what else could be happening. I havent lost a country in month one for at least a dozen games.
