"Easy" is basically impossible to lose. I have no idea why anyone would play on that level.

I think he played on easy initially then converted to Normal, but from what I read, Classic is the first 'difficult' level; and of course if you did quicksaves and such earlier on, later on you'd have better soldiers and such making it easier.

You're playing on baby mode, and I don't understand why. Surely that just makes the whole thing a bit of a waste? Stick that **** on classic if you want a decent challenge.

Just upped it to Classic. Faced three of the psionic mind-control guys and took them out pretty easily. I shot a rocket at them, sniped one, then bum rushed the other two with my assaults.

Well, if you've built up ab uber-squad on an easier level, of course it's gonna be easy; you still have an uber-squad.

Getting an uber-squad while being on Classic the whole time is probably quite a bit tougher, and not something I'm going to try until I'm more comfortable with the ins and outs of the game.

If you abuse the **** out of quicksave it sounds like you can build up an uber squad on any difficulty.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Ironman mode doesn't let you save unless you're exiting the game. Makes it a lot more fun.

Zombies are way overpowered, 10 points of health AND they can move pretty fast?! Putting Chryssalids on an invasion/save the city map with all those civilians to zombify is just way over the top.

Okay so I just had an encounter (one encounter within a mission), outside a UFO with 3 thin men, 2 mutons, and one of the berserker bumrush muton things (not sure what it's called). This is on classic. I'd include a screenshot but I for some reason can't screencap this game.

I had my men all situated on high ground, just outside sight radius of the entrance. This is one of those bigger UFOs that are square shaped. I had my sniper throw a sensor into the area in front of the entrance. It detected three thin men lying around. I shot one of the thin men, triggering the encounter. That didn't cost an action because the thin man was out of cover. I rushed my two assaults up into cover in the area in front of the entrance, setting everyone else to overwatch.

At this point the Mutons come out. The berserker guy gets hit by the sniper's reaction shot and charges to the middle. The heavy and the medic also get a shot off at him. He has a ton of health though so he's still at sorta half or something. The thin men charge out too. My buffs support gets a reaction shot against each (he gets two shots). He kills one but misses the other.

My turn. I shoot a rocket at all three mutons. -6 health to each. The berserker gets some kind of move where if you shoot him, he can move again in your turn. So he does, right past my offense assault, who has a shotgun and gets a reaction shot against anyone who moves within 4 squares of him. Boom. Berserker is down. I use the sniper to shoot the other two, whose cover was destroyed by the rocket. He does it for zero actions both times. I then shoot the last thin man. Everyone gets set to overwatch. Turn over. They didn't get a single attack off against me.

The berzerkers charge instantly at whomever hits them; it's their fatal flaw.

Something I'm not 100% clear about, so I want to make sure I've got it right; after you interrogate a particular species, the only benefit of stunning them again (as opposed to killing them) is you obtain their weaponry, instead of "weapon fragments", correct? BUT, you can't actually use that weaponry until you research it yourself, yes?

I had one soldier get critically wounded once trying to stun another muton and decided **** it, no more stunning.

The game is good, so you're off the hook. You didn't even mention the greatest part of the game, i.e. that Dr. Marvin Candle from Lost voices your chief engineer.

Was doing pretty well on normal/ironman before I decided to attack the alien base at what was apparently far too early a time. My entire team with all my majors and captains got wiped out, effectively ending my game right there. It was awesome.

Laughing at your own hubris is one of the best parts of this game.

Yeah, don't try it with standard weapons. That's a good way to get wiped out.
