Or in the ability of Obama to handle the economy since he's ignored it for the rest of his term of office so far after the package was passed?

Yeah. He totally ignored the economy when he made a speech about a jobs bill that congress had no interest in passing. Or when he extended some tax cuts. What do you want him to do, hire every unemployed person in the country?

Precisely. You shouldn't, and nor should Obama. That's what's so foolish about injecting absurd amounts of money into the economy and hoping something will happen, with little regard to the costs and benefits of the sending in question. Result? Cronyism, waste, and debt- the inevitable result of government spending money too fast for the public to oversee the end product. Might as well pray to a rain god. Economies have recovered without stimulus throughout the course of history. It simply isn't necessary.

          That's Jesse Jackson Jr. talk.

He only talked about them as if they were magic. In actuality, as we know, that's incorrect.

It's foolish to inject a significant amount of money into the economy because... the recession might turn out to be even worse than you thought it would be? It's not hoping something will happen, it's assuming that the stimulus will work because people are hired when there is more demand for the goods and services businesses are providing. I wonder what other things you think simply aren't necessary because people went without them throughout the course of history.

What is the difference between stimulus and throwing a bunch of money into the air, a la the Joker? There really is very little.

Oh, I'm definitely going to love coming by Poly on election night . Nate Silver is now saying there is a 20% chance Obama may win in a landslide (over 80% that he wins in general).

How about the congress and senate?

For the first 2 years of his Administration, the priority of his agenda was most definately not the economy. As for Congress, it's his job to work within a democratic system to get things done. If the only major agenda item he can get passed is when his party solely controlled both houses, it says something about his leadership abilities IMO.

It's hard to form compromise when one side is sworn to a position of no compromise.

He's the one that blew up the debt deal negotiations where the GOP House was compromising with him.

Apparently due to Romney's incompetance as candidate, Democrats in Senate and House races are gaining big time. Regardless, I was just talking about the wailing and gnashing of teeth. I'm sure Sloww will rip his tunic in grief as well
