    They could, if their descendants fought in the war of 1812. Technically the head of state at the time was the King, but the head of state now is still the Queen, so what's the big deal?

    My forefathers lived in what is now Canada since well before the war of 1812, so I'll take credit for it if I damn well please.

      You're thinking of the southern states along the Mississippi. Do NOT confuse those backward states with states like Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.

                    Not all parts of the country are equally religious. And the parts that never had slavery suck less, all other things being equal.

                      I don't think having had slavery 150 years ago makes any difference today. For instance, Florida had slavery, and Florida kicks ass.

                        If you transplant people from regions that don't suck to places that sucked (to Virginia, Florida or Texas) then you will probably see improvement.

                            This is just bigoted. There is nothing wrong with southern people. Besides, most people in all three states are native-born, and places in Florida outside the Miami region don't have the large transplant population. They still kick ass.
