The ANC and ZANU-PF are so ****ing ****ed, they make you yearn for the good old days of institutional racism.
It's true...well, *almost* yearn. They're probably better off without apartheid. But yeah. The South African government is pretty ****ed up now, in a more randomly corrupt and incompetent sort of way as opposed to a only-if-you-are-black sort of way.

Those who were taught to read were never taught anything that might make them think that white people were less than perfect (Hitler, etc).

OBviously education is still a huge problem.

Also, despite how much the ANC is messing things up, there is a lot more electricity/etc and higher consumer demand among africans, coloreds, and indians than there use to be (in SA people are one of 4 races... and a chinese person might be classified as white, for example).

A Chinese would never be called White. Show me one application for employment that puts the two together. Show me a census form.

          It is a bit complicated.

"The designation gave Japanese almost all of the same rights and privileges as whites (except for the right to vote, as well as being exempt from conscription)."
"In 1984, South African Chinese, now increased to about 10,000, finally obtained the same official rights as the Japanese in South Africa, that is, to be treated as whites in terms of the Group Areas Act."
"Up until the abolition of apartheid, the "honorary white" status was eventually extended to people of other East-Asian nationalities, including those from South Korea and the Taiwan (Republic of China). The latter was due to the good and important relations between South Africa and the Republic of China."

Chinese are now reclassified as black (which is indian, colored, or african):

For example, if you were black and in the wrong area at the wrong time, you could be shot or sent to a terrible prison for time or whatever.

Wrong area could be the white beach.

Wrong area at the wrong time could be just in town in the period of time reserved for white people/etc.

I actually think that the educational abuses were worse than these ones...

The intentions of those who developed the education system in SA:

"We should not give the Natives an academic education, as some people are too prone to do. If we do this, we shall later be burdened with a number of academically trained Europeans and Non-Europeans, and who is going to do the manual labour in the country? ... I am in thorough agreement with the view that we should so conduct our schools that the native who attends those schools will know that to a great extent he must be the labourer in the country."

So...use $2/day Africans to mine the ore in Australia?
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

That wasn't her point. Her point was that the cost of production is extremely high in Australia for a variety of reasons, including the high cost of labor, and it's hurting the global competitiveness of Australia-based mining companies. That's a totally valid criticism.

The Australian government could address this issue through a variety of means, including by allowing Africans to emigrate to Australia. Good luck getting racist Australia to allow more immigration though.

I know it isn't her point. She's just greedy and doesn't care about anyone but herself.
