Also obvious: the only issue Asher actually cares about in US politics is gay marriage. His hatred for republicans stems entirely from that, and turns him into a tool. Pity.

At any rate the politics of the liar smears are pretty obvious. Usually Republicans, in the eyes of Democrats and the media, get to be one of two things: Stupid or evil. Paul Ryan is obviously neither, so they've decided to go with the hilariously hypocritical epithet of "liar".
Deny that both Romney and Ryan have knowingly told a series of complete untruths over the course of the campaign. I dare you.

They haven't. Dare complete. I believe it too.

Note I won't say they've been 100% honest. Like any winning politicians in America, they've embellished, exaggerated, and been hypocritical. However, they've run a remarkably honest campaign, like Drake commented above.

Almost every politician is a lying scumbags by definition. Saying one party is worse than the other is silly and a waste of time.
Being shocked when confronted with this is the height of silliness.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Also it is evident that Asher is very unfamiliar with Paul Ryan and probably has only heard about him from the left wing tool blogs, since nobody who actually knows a thing about him would suggest he's stupid. Even his Democratic counterparts on the Hill think he's genial and brilliant.

I don't hate Republicans. I hate liars, I hate bigots, and I hate morons. The simple fact of the matter is, if you're all three of the aforementioned you probably tick the GOP box on the ballot.

The tools here are the people ignoring the lies the man tells and pass it off as business as usual. What a sad state of affairs.

I don't read blogs (other than tech/gadget ones). I don't read right wing or left wing newspapers, either.

On the other hand, you are most certainly a partisan hack who reads right-wing blogs and right-wing newspapers. Amiright?

I'm at work at the moment. When I get a little time I'll prove just how completely untrue everything you just said is.

Oh please, thats the same tired old jaded **** that leads to politicians feeling they can do or say anything they want. Yes all politicians are slippery bastards, but when you start saying that they're all the same regardless then you're basically giving them a free pass to say whatever the hell they like. Whats 'shocking' about this campaign is not that the GOP are lying more than usual, it's that they're being allowed to lie more than usual by a press and population that don't seem to give a ****.

I'm not giving them a free pass. I expect them to lie because they always have. When you accept that, you take responsibility for checking for yourself before you believe what ANY of they say.
                        Obama's attack campaign ads included.

I'm with you about you should always expect dishonesty from both sides, but I really dislike that thing with calling it silly and a waste of time to point out those lies. There's so many lies flying around that they need to be confronted.

In fact the nice people at the Progressive Christian Channel have saved us all some effort by cataloguing a quite incredible 533 lies told by Mitt Romney over the course of just 30 weeks. They point out this list may not be exhaustive.

                          http://www.patheos.com/blogs/slackti...ocuments-them/

These are verifiable lies, each sourced with supporting material. I defy anyone to read through these lists and tell me that this is just a normal election year.

In regards to the question of this thread, it is quite obvious that high demand for integrity does not exist. Were such integrity to flood the market, it would become even less valuable.

Having seen Obama's attack ads, the dems haven't exactly taken the high road. I agree that it's been a nasty campaign season and each year it seems that they sink lower and lower, but you can't just single out one party when both are doing the same. And yes, I'm not happy with what "my" party is doing. If it was someone besides Obama, this would be another rare year where I voted against the party. I still may, but I have been so unimpressed by our Chicago Guy and we need a change.

Did the media consider McCain stupid or evil? Which one was Bob Dole? Bush Sr.?
