Don't let Laz fool you into thinking the British are being reasonable about these Games; the jingoism on display by the British press is really quite distasteful. They were falling all over themselves to praise the Queen for her superior acting ability after the opening ceremony, seemingly can't pass up a shot of balding William, ginger Nazi Harry, and the delightful Duchess of Cambridge, and have **** on their own athletes who only managed a silver or bronze (at least after the golds finally started coming).

Thank god for Ian Thorpe, who is one of the few people making the BBC's coverage of the games bearable. I wish he had been there to slap Clare Balding when she started going on about how disappointing Rebecca Adlington's second bronze in the pool was.
