See, I thought that was called a hatchback.

Then when you spawn, you get 'station wagon'. Sedans seem rather pointless in a "look at me spending more money on a car that's inferior to a hatchback in virtually every way"...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

      Eh?

Over here hatches are more expensive.

Mazda 3 Sedan starts at $15,895CDN, Mazda 3 Hatch starts at $16,895CDN. Mazdaspeed3 is only available in a Hatch starting at $29,940.

        Wheelbase and total length:
        Mazda6 -- 109.8 inches, 193.7 inches
        Mazda3 -- 103.9 inches, 180.9 inches

Big difference in interior space as well. I'm 6'2" and fit nicely into my Mazda6; the 3 was much too tight for me.

          Huh?

Why would a smaller car ever be more expensive than a bigger car? Certainly not the case over here - unless it is chock full of extras...

We're talking about Mazda 3 hatch vs sedan, not Mazda 3 vs Mazda 6.

It's perceived as sportier (and is actually called the "Sport" model), even though the specs are largely similar.

Car marketing basics. Add a Sport badge, paint on a stripe and add £5k.

In the case of the Mazda3, the hatch is way, way better looking than the rather pedestrian sedan...which helps.

Seconded. The only problem I've had with mine is that it seems to attract dents and dings.

                      Also, it is a Pontiac.

Don't be hatin' on Pontiac. My wife drives a 2001 Bonneville, which has provided excellent performance and reliability.
She is extremely bitter at GM for disbanding the division.

I nearly bought a Pontiac Firebird when I was 20. Instead I bought an old Audi Quattro, which sucked every penny I had out of my bank account within three months.

I need a new car in the next month (or rather my fiancée does). Recommendations welcome:

Mostly non-urban driving - her drive to work will be about 15-20km through country roads.
Needs room in the back for a dog.
                            She's doesn't want a manual transmissions.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

Thanks for that advice. I shall follow it slavishly.
