  • HC's Car Thread

So, there's zero chance of me getting a new (more accurately, used) car anytime soon, but the car I drive right now is 12 years old and has no working AC which in this heat has got me thinking of what I'm going to replace it with (because that day is coming eventually), and I don't know anything about cars.

Simple requirements: Basically as long as it's a sedan, has a sunroof option and you can plug your mp3 player into the radio it's acceptable. Being cheap is a major plus. Being not ugly is also a plus.

So what are good cars fitting this criteria?

    Thanks everyone.

A honda fit would suit you, I think

      Those aren't sedans.

        Why the fixation with sedans?

Fits have very comfortable backseats for regular-sized people, if you often drive around with friends. My dad has one (1st gen), for several years already, and it's aged very well.

The CVT is great, but I generally prefer stick.

            I just don't like hatchbacks.

It's a peculiar thing about Americans that most don't like hatchbacks.

They tend to look better and are definitely far more practical than sedans. Hatches are really popular in Canada & Europe.

I'd second the Fit as well.

Maybe a Yaris or Corolla, or a Civic.

In any case, buy Toyota or Honda.

College students don't have the disposable income on incessant repairs on American or European cars.

Which is a better car, the Corolla or the Accord?

It would depend on the model, I would guess. They're both huge though...

Really? The car I have now is a 2000 Accord. Have they gotten bigger?

                        They're both big cars.

Yeah, not really. A Suburban is a big car. Not an Accord.

Try "you Americans and your ability to purchase consumer goods that would be luxury items in poorer countries"

Now, what's the practical difference between a corolla and an accord?
