I said dogs attack me in the middle of the day. I've never been robbed by humans in the middle of the day. I would take other precautions if I had to travel at night so the threat level from humans is far lower than the threat level from dogs.

What is wrong with you that you can't understand why I said that?

And what the **** does a dog's training have to do with ****? It doesn't matter that a human 'made' the dog a vicious killer when the dog is jumping at your throat. How did you even think that was relevant?

I've never allowed the dogs to get close enough to injure me. I've jumped over fences, ran into traffic, etc. to get away/scare them off but I've been very lucky. I don't know if I'll be lucky the next time. The time with the two pit bulls that cornered me against a wall was a hell of a close call.

You ran into traffic? I hope it wasn't heavy traffic, but even the light kind is far more likely to seriously injure you than a dog who's chasing you without any provocation. The cars could easily kill you. The dog could too, I guess, though even a really POed dog is more likely to leave ugly scars and give you a stay in a hospital. But if you didn't antagonize the beast, in all likelihood it's just routine prey drive and it might just nip at your ankles a bit if it gets too close. If two dogs had you cornered and didn't attack you, I have a hard time believing they actually meant you harm. If they really have a mind to attack, they're not going to hang around snarling, they'll lunge and knock you down.

Anyway, the simplest answer to your problems is to just use a damned treadmill or something. You can't shoot every stray dog in the city. Even pepper spray will only teach respect to a regular visitor and perhaps a few of his packmates if they're perceptive types.

Al, if you seriously thought you were a split second away from death and continued running anyway just because "treadmill running isn't real running," that tops every other example of bad judgment you've told us about here. You weren't, in any case. If they wanted to kill you, I doubt they'd be put off by a car horn. They're city dogs, they hear car horns 24/7. If they were in such a mental state that a momentary shock put them off, they didn't have anything serious in mind.

Al, you need to get your own dogs. Big, nasty, mean ones. Train them to kill other dogs that threaten you. It's obviously the only solution as dogs are mindless killing beasts that are impossible to stop. Fight fire with fire.
