    International support? Are you serious?

    Let's see...

    Eurozone...nope
    U.S. .... nope
    Commonwealth....nope

3rd world countries nobody gives a crap about...probably not

small handful of South American countries...MAYBE

    International support.

    • You're much too state-centric in your thinking, and shouldn't write off American support simply because Washington would never officially come out as opposed to the UK. This wouldn't be the first time American support had gone towards the cause of ending British possession of Catholic lands, after all.

This is true, pre-9/11 many Americans had no problems at all with funding terrorists who spent US dollars on the explosives to blow the limbs off children.

There are degrees of seriousness and unseriousness. None have any correlation to degree of accuracy. I can't be arsed to dig through vast amounts of academic material for some trailer-dwelling, Bud-swilling tool who trolls on an internet forum using a half-assed dead rapper's stage name. So you rate that degree of unseriousness.

Well, you are at least, since you're running your mouth like a bidet for 500 years of Spanish Catholic atrocities.

Naah, there was actually a guy working at an Irish bar in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego back in the 90s who was a wanted IRA (PIRA, IIRC) member.

Really? It doesn't surprise me (that an Irish guy would be a wanted terrorist, that he would flee to America, or he'd end up serving drinks and a crappy college age establishment) too much but I would think a wanted terrorist would be extradited to the UK.

                        • They did when he got caught. He was here under an alias with forged ID and had pretty well established himself here. Apparently, from what I remember of the news about it, he'd more or less gone straight - not active with PIRA, not fundraising or promoting. He worked the overstayed student angle and got under the table work tending bar. It was pretty much blind luck he was caught - someone recognized him and reported, and the feds got him.

Except some judges and American politicians especially those reliant on Irish Catholic votes) had a tendency to view the I.R.A. as 'political' cases, thus making extradition somewhat more difficult. Of course all that's quite different now that more 'terrorists' are brown skinned and have suspiciously Arab sounding names....
