I also agree 99th percentile is not the appropriate number to be talking about. An SAT score close to 800M 800V corresponds to the 99.9th percentile of college-going adults, who make up only something like 50% of the population. Add in a difficult PhD program, and you've definitely got something much higher than 99th. I'm not claiming anyone is underestimating KH's intelligence - rather, people are just overestimating the rest of the distribution.

Indeed. I make no comment on what IQ KH may or may not have. Entirely irrelevant to my question.

          According to this:

A 1600 SAT corresponds to a 152-155 IQ which is around where I would expect KH to be (granted, someone with a higher IQ could score no more than 1600). 155 IQ is 99.97 percentile... which is like 1 in 3500.

With 7 billion people that means there are 2 million people 99.97th percentile or above.

Like I said. There's several hundred thousand to a couple million people with his capacity or greater.

I highly doubt KH's IQ is higher than 155. That's ridiculously impressive as is and he should be more than happy that he is that intelligent. But it's not even close to top 20,000 living today, let alone in all time.

My IQ is in the paltry low 130's range and I consistently feel like a ubermensch intellectually everywhere, including in my undergraduate days... except when I come here.

That chart is clearly wrong, since I'm the smartest person to ever live but it has my IQ in the low 130s.

How does it make you feel that we're probably of commensurate intelligence but you work in data entry (?) and I'm about to be a night bell boy at a hotel?

Like I said, only on Apolyton could I have a reputation as being not too bright.

Really, Apolyton consistently demolishes my self-esteem.

If you consider my station in life to be relatively high, it's due primarily to luck. If my station in life is relatively low compared to what it could be, it's entirely my own fault.

                      That's a good answer.

Recall that we make fun of MrFun here, who has a graduate degree.

Civ is a super-geeky hobby, and the dumb people are constantly demeaned by Kuci and KH until they give up and leave.

That may explain it. I don't play Civ.

If ability at CIV was a measurement of Intelligence I should be ruling this godforsaken world.

So no, the fact that this is a CIV site doesn't have any relevance here.
