Your instincts are right; you want the ILX here.

Acura and Lexus are the best choices for sedans in the 30,000 range. The only knock on them is the somewhat-conservative styling. The Lexus IS and the Acura ILX are probably better for someone your age than their larger, less sporty, more expensive counterparts. You've eliminated the Lexus on reasonable grounds, so go for the Acura and don't think twice about it. I'd love to have either of those cars, but they were out of my price range, so I got a Camry instead.

Get a price quote online, print it out, and bring it to the dealer. It saves time.

Be warned. That thing is a boat. It's about 4.85 meters long, and I'm pretty sure none of the cars you've been looking at even break the 4.7 mark. The CT-H, especially, is tiny compared to a Maxima.

Yeah, it looked too big for me. I considered an Altima but I don't like the styling.

I am also looking for a new vehicle-- I will continue my redneck ways with my truck but the Mrs will be replacing her people mover. It needs to

            1. be able to seat 4 comfortable with good cargo space
            2. Be able to seat 6 (2 are children so the "third row" can be cramped as long as the second row can accomodate adults
            3. NOT BE A MINIVAN
            4. Be capable of towing 4000 pounds
            5. All-wheel drive
            6. Not a domestic-- she has a huge bias against them
            7. Not huge-- ie Toyota Sequoia is too large---

So far we have looked at a Honda Pilot, Acura MDX and Audi Q7-- I think tonight we are driving a Nissan

Any suggestions of other things to look at
4000 lbs towing is a lot to ask of a "not too huge" car.

Acura looks way better than the Lexus. Someone at work just got one of the Lexuses; looks really strange to me. Outside that is, inside is really sweet.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

Ok then 3000 lbs-- I want to be able to tow and launch my two seadoos so towing 2200 lbs will be the norm--

I thought you'd only just bought a car recently Asher?

3000 lbs is much more manageable and brings many more models into play. Check the Toyota Highlander and the Hyundai Veracruz. They're in the size range you seem to prefer, they have the power you want, and they don't break the bank.

We have a 2011 Rav4, but that's for the SO.

Ah fair enough. Don't fancy something a bit...well...sportier...or does that not work in the Arctic wastelands?

I don't need to compensate. I'm not an 18 year old kid who thinks having a car that can go multiples of the speed limit is cool.

Calgary is south of Manchester. In fact, it's south of London, but only slightly.
