If you like small, light weight, and fast cars then you might be able to find a 2005 Lotus Elise in California for $30,000-$35,000.

Yeah, my SUV is a RWD when 4WD is not engaged. 4WD was extra so a lot of them were sold without it. As silly as that sounds. I don't understand why you would buy one without it.

AWD is always in 4WD, where on other 4WD vehicles, that mode must be selected or it's just 2WD. I only select 4WD when the roads are bad since the gas mileage isn't as good. (and it rides a bit smoother and handles a bit better)

In Canada at least, 4WD is usually a mode that can be toggled on or off. AWD usually refers to a car where it's on all the time or comes on automatically as required.

On the RAV4 AWD, it's FWD 99% of the time except for if you hit the "AWD Lock" button or the car detects wheel slippage. It turns it on in something like 30ms.
