I think you should get a car that has an engine. With four wheels. And a steering wheel.

I ended up with a Mazda 6 due to cash considerations, but here's what I really wanted.
The Hyundai Sonata kicks ass, and you can get the hybrid for under $30k.

Dad recently got one of those. The hybrid isn't worth the price difference even with tax breaks, though.

I think my next car may be an Acura TSX. Or a Lexus IS250 AWD.

That's part of the point. She's obviously getting a car for graduation, so she can be a bit profligate. It's Daddy's money.

I'm curious about AWD sedans--how good is the Subaru Legacy? Looks like it's a decent price.

I've heard both very good and very bad things about Subaru. From people I know who have them, you either get a vehicle that never has problems or a vehicle with nothing but problems.

FWIW, I would caution against Mazda. At least until they officially don't use any Ford parts. My '04 Mazda 3 is becoming quite expensive, as all of the Ford parts keep dying with alarming (and expensive) regularity.

I test drove a couple of Subarus a few years back when I was car shopping and while the mechanics were top notch the interiors were chintzy with hard plastic dashboards and cheap fabric seats. Basically they make cars to a price point so if they spend more on the drive train then they have to save money some where else and it shows; that's not a bad thing because if you don't care about having a luxury interior then you can get a very well performing car which is well equipped for a reasonable price.

You need a car that is as colourful as mine

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The track I went to last weekend was two miles. I rode in some sweet cars! There were three lotuses there.

They're not in close proximity. They space them out. And you're only allowed to pass on the straightaways with a point.

something about him not thinking I'll graduate, so this is incentive. Works for me.
Oh! My parents finally got a divorce. Weird conditions, but now there's more money to be spent on me since he won't be buying her ridiculous jewelry all the time! hurrah.

It does not! Moreover, no one will even think of calling your car a rice rocket, which might happen if you buy a Celica (do they still make them, btw?).
