I think London you could estimate being £4 for 568ml of a good beer (and normally less). €2 for 250ml is 0.67pence/ml £4 for 568ml is 0.7pence/ml so the cheapest Brussels beer is about the same as a good beer in London.

i for one, am shocked!

people who leave like this tend to A) have amassed a fortune doing what they now suddenly critique, so that they can now (very) comfortably critique others for doing it B) tend to be wankers who could no longer perform profitably, and blame 'ethics' or 'family reasons' for leaving the company C) will never get a job in this industry again (and this guy isn't even a real whistleblower).

maybe academia is right for him. critique the rest of the planet with near-zero effect, feel remarkably good about it, and spend 90% of the time begging for funding, which comes directly or indirectly out of the nest they shat in.
