Did you at least inform public health ? I had a similar experience over here with a fast food multinational and it was the last time I ever ate at that clown's emporium (my excuse: it was 2:45 a.m. and I was coming back from a club in city centre Manchester).

I had gastro-enteritis and had to have sachets of that revolting rehydration stuff that they ship to children in disaster zones and also anti-spasmodic injections because my stomach muscles ached so much from the vomiting and diarrhoea. Still, I was a brief object lesson for some medical students at the Royal Infirmary...

No because as MM pointed out the time frame raised some questions. I just automatically assumed that the last thing I ate was what caused it but as MM pointed out 1 hour just isn't enough time for food poisoning to set in. In all likelihood it was something I ate 12-48 hours prior to the symptoms showing up and that makes it much harder to finger exactly which meal did the damage.

Naw, I meant to call but never got around to it. No headaches either since the food poisoning passed so I figure I'm in the clear. Thanks though.

I've heard countless stories about food poisonings supposedly taking 12-24 hours.

I've been able to get the same food poisoning from the same place (i.e. reproducible results) within 3 hours of eating there.

That sounds more like an allergy to me.

I think double confirmation may be required. Do it for the cause.

I mean I can ask to be tested for food allergies.

Sorry. I thought you were volunteering for a job as food tester.

This is not necessarily the case. It could easily have been staphylococcal food poisoning :

Staphylococcal toxins are fast acting, sometimes causing illness in as little as 30 minutes. Symptoms usually develop within one to six hours after eating contaminated food. Patients typically experience several of the following: nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhoea. The illness is usually mild and most patients recover after one to three days. In a small minority of patients the illness may be more severe.

No doubt, it is the worst. In this case I'm very lucky because my father is a doctor and he always gives me something prophylactic if he figures out i have eaten something unhygienic so i am usually safe from it.
