      • Emotionally, I'm a fascist. My mind has liberalized and I understand the importance of civil rights and suffrage. I understand the logic of some measure of laissez-faire, as my beliefs or whims are no better than another man's. But emotionally, I am disgusted by this America. I am disgusted by the privilege. Disgusted by the waste and excess. By the indulgence and desire for instant gratification. The drugs, the sex, the food, the violence, all the vices that manifest themselves in our obese, medicated population, led by self-serving multi-millionaires who pander to the ignorant whims of the majority. We need to live with a knife to our throats. It will build a tougher, better breed of American.

But again, that is what I feel, not what I know. It is what my gut tells me is right and how things ought to be, not what my mind says. But my mind is probably weak.

how does living with a knife to your throat make you a better person?

i actually think the world would be a much better place if humans were softer and gentler.

Tomatoes are from central America so they tend to need warm weather. For instance in the UK for 9 months out of the year tomatoes need to be grown in green houses. I expect the same to be true in Sweden.

The story was a little too over-the-top, what with the mustache-twirling villainy of the banker.

Would you prefer to live as a hunter-gatherer? Maybe you should go live out in the wilderness instead of in a major city. Stop whining about how terrible modern civilization is if you can't even go without it.
