We just don't know what's going on. It's possible that he is already reconciled with her and using the ad money to buy her a new laptop.

Rather than pay for his own stupid act. It sends the following messages:

        a. "You can do stupid stuff and rather than own up to it, it might give you 15 minutes of fame/infamy!"
        b. "Daughter, your safety and quality of life is worth exactly $5 per thousand random and potentially dangerous strangers I intentionally bring into your life and humiliate you in front of."

I call bull**** that her life has become unsafe. Or at the very least we don't know.

It would have been better to sell the laptop, but destroying it is not such a big deal.

          How have you been raised?

Putting your 15 yo daughter up on stage in a negative light in front of 25 million random people is definitely threatening her security. It takes all of 15 seconds to find their home address and phone number for any ******* on the internet now.

I was raised in that there are consequences of your actions. My parents had the good sense to make the consequences roughly proportional to the mistake, rather than blow it wildly out of proportion. They also had the good sense to take the high road rather than "punish" me by acting the same way I did when I was wrong.

It's all probably a joke anyway.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

She's not in any danger. Unless you think someone wants to break into the home of some grumpy old man with a gun?

There's a lot of weirdos out there. Why make your kid a potential target for them? (Aside from pop/movie star where you can use some of the money for security and rehab?)
