After growing up and going to a Catholic school for 8 years, which provided us with thousands of hours spent studying the bible, one thing became apparent. If you search hard enough, you could find a verse (or one close enough or with the meaning obscure enough) to support any hair-brained position. Anyone that uses it as their sole proof for anything, is just a religious nut.

The most amazing thing here is that with the use of internet search tools, you should be able to find verses in a matter of seconds. So not only is Kid a religious nut, he's a stupid/lazy one to boot.

Incidentally that is an argument that some British did use - that the Americans were rebelling against the authority that God had placed above them. Likely why Jefferson, anticipating this, appealed to God in the Declaration of Independence a few times.
