Every job I've ever had has been business casual, so I can get away with five pairs of shoes:
1. Main pair of sneakers: $40
2. ****ty pair of sneakers (previously my main pair of sneakers): $40
3. Dress shoes (birthday present, last worn about four years ago at a friend's wedding): $100
4. Sandals: $40
5: Hiking boots: $200

And red/green/blue shoes to match your outfit? Are you dressing as an elf or something?

Edit: I forgot that I've got a $40 pair of comfortable dress shoes for job interviews (the fancy dress shoes hurt my feet after an hour)

I have a pair of nice sandals, a pair of tennis shoes, a pair of waterproof hiking boots for snow and rain, and a pair of brown leather shoes I wear when I need to look nice. I need to buy a suit at some point and when I do I will get black leather shoes. In total, I probably have around $350 worth of shoes. Not particularly excessive I think. Might be $450, I can't remember if the brown leather shoes were $100 or $200.

My tennis shoes are New Balance; I don't care about brand name. I find them to be the most comfortable of the ones that I have tried.

My shoes (I just got 2 more! and got rid of 2, I will include all):
1. (got rid of) pair of running shoes that I used for ~2 years for running and then used for bad weather in Sweden, was full of holes by the time I left Sweden (~80$)
2. (got rid of) huge pair of snow boots, I hate snow boots and never wore them even when the snow was up to my knees (just didn't go out then) (~??$)
3. Birkenstocks, this time I used them mainly at work, they are still pretty nice despite being about 2 years old (~100$)
4. Pair of airwalk sneakers, got a couple of weeks ago for rain wear (~10$)
5. Pair of airwalk warm shoes (Slip ons), I got a couple of weeks ago for cold wear (~20$)
6. Pair of vibram-five fingers, I got over a year ago for running/everyday wear (~120$)
7. Pair of rock climbing shoes, I got 5-6 years ago shortly before I moved and stopped doing much rock climbing (~?0$)

I could probably use a pair of hiking shoes and dress shoes, but they are low priority.

I'm not wealthy, that's for sure. But I imagine my habits wouldn't change significantly were I more well off than I am. Fashion has no value to me, I'm not outdoorsy, and I don't go to places where fancy dress is required.

If we're comparing shoes, I own 5 pairs:

1) Loafers for work, 275$
2) Running shoes (only for actual running) 120$
3) Same make of running shoes, with 500 miles on them, for use in tennis or any other sports 120$
4) General purpose nice casual shoes 80$
5) Beachwear/supercasual shoes 25$

Sounds about right, although I am much cheaper when it comes to work. Clarke's at about 80-90 are just fine for me.

EDIT: from the file location they are the Queer Eye crew. If they wanted people to dress other people why didn't they find some who could at least dress themselves?

I'm guessing people who need to have a television show teach them how to dress have objectively bad taste and won't notice.

1) My winter shoes, which are waterproof with great grip
2) My summer shoes, which are skate-style shoes that are ridiculously comfortable
3) Dress shoes, for once every couple of years when I go to a formal wedding/funeral
